Basic Cleaning Tasks

To keep your home clean, you will need the basic cleaning supplies. It is important to stay on top of the dirt and crime fight. Messes can pile up very quick and get overwhelming.  


1. Gather Supplies


   - Cleaning Products: All-purpose cleaner, disinfectant wipes like LYSOL , glass cleaner, bathroom cleaner, Dish soap.

-Tools: Microfiber cloths, sponges, scrub brushes, mops, brooms, vacuum cleaner, and trash bags.                              Toothbrushes ( Different colors for different rooms), Toothpicks. 

- Personal Protective Equipment: Gloves and masks, especially when using strong chemicals.


2. Declutter

- Remove Items: Clear surfaces of unnecessary items, such as papers, dishes, and personal belongings.

- Organize: Put items back in their designated places to create a tidy environment.


3. Dusting

- Top to bottom:  Start dusting from the highest surfaces (shelves, ceiling fans) and work your way down to avoid resettling dust on cleaned areas.

- Use Appropriate Tools: Use microfiber cloths or dusters to trap dust effectively.

4. Surface Cleaning

- Wipe Down Surfaces:  Use appropriate cleaners for different surfaces (wood, glass, metal) to remove dirt and grime.

- Disinfect: Pay special attention to high-touch areas like doorknobs, light switches, and counter tops.

5. Floor Care

-Sweep or Vacuum: Remove loose dirt and debris from floors.

♡Mop♡- Use a suitable floor cleaner and mop for hard surfaces. For carpets, vacuum thoroughly.


 6. Bathroom Cleaning

-Toilets: Use a toilet bowl cleaner and brush to scrub the inside, and disinfect the outside surfaces.

- Sinks and Showers: Clean and disinfect sinks, faucets, and shower areas, removing soap scum and mildew.


 7. Kitchen Cleaning

- Counter tops: Wipe down with a disinfectant.

- Appliances: Clean the exterior of appliances and inside the microwave, oven, and refrigerator as needed.

- Dishes: Wash and put away dishes, or load them into the dishwasher.

Trash Removal
   - Empty Bins. Regularly empty trash cans and replace liners.

- Recycling: Separate recyclables and dispose of them properly.


 9. Final Touch Up

- Check for Missed Areas: Do a final walk-through to ensure no spots were overlooked.

- Air Freshening: Consider using air fresheners or opening windows for ventilation.

10. Establish a Routine

- Regular Cleaning Schedule: Create a cleaning schedule to maintain cleanliness and prevent buildup of dirt and clutter.
